Freelance Opportunity: Footwear Designer
Duration: 4 months (August – December 2025)
Work Mode: Fully remote (EU-based freelancers). Occasional travel within Germany may be required.

Aquent is looking for an experienced Footwear Designer based in Europe o join an innovative seasonal project focused on high-performance and lifestyle footwear.

You’ll be responsible for creating 5 innovative models for a world-renowned gravity sports and downhill racing brand for SS27 and FW27 collections.

Scope of Work:

• Independently develop and deliver five complete footwear design concepts from idea to production-ready files.
• Create compelling concept presentations (Illustrator/PDF) including Shell patterns, 2D tooling drawings, Tech packs and Color line art illustrations)
• Integrate consumer insights and storytelling into each product vision, aligned with a clear brand identity and seasonal direction.
• Design within a holistic “head-to-toe” wardrobe approach, with a strong focus on functionality, innovation, and design consistency.
• Produce visuals and moodboards for internal cross-functional presentations, including material maps and construction techniques.
• Collaborate asynchronously via SharePoint, Teams, and MIRO with development and leadership teams.
• Participate in milestone meetings, presenting to senior stakeholders and incorporating feedback iteratively.
• Ensure designs are production-ready, selecting viable construction methods and incorporating supplier input based on sample reviews.

Final deliverables:

• 5 full tech packs
• Concept presentations (10+ pages per product)
• Shell patterns, 2D tooling, detailed sketches, and material mapping

Your profil :

• 5+ years of footwear design experience (performance or outdoor categories a plus)
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and familiar with tech pack creation
• Able to translate insights into strong design stories
• Independent, organized, and confident presenting to senior stakeholders
• Mountain bike footwear experience OR skateboard shoes background
• Personal mountain biking practice (highly valued)
• Understanding of technical shoe constructions
