Software Engineer – XR Runtime & CI/CD (Contract)

Location: London (3 days onsite per week – Kings Cross)
Contract Length: 6 months
Pay £52.40p/h PAYE Bonus: 15%

We’re hiring a Software Engineer to work on high-impact runtime and infrastructure systems for a next-generation XR platform. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge runtime engine and the tools that power seamless, connected experiences in the metaverse.

What You’ll Do:

  • Investigate and resolve crash issues and system instability in a live XR environment.
  • Contribute to improving CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and internal developer tools.
  • Work on backend runtime systems, debugging complex issues across C#/C++/Python/Hack.
  • Partner with teams across EMEA and North America on core product infrastructure.
  • Maintain and extend test frameworks, data pipelines, and diagnostic tooling.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Skills:

  • Experience working with internal CI/CD systems, job pipelines, and automated build infrastructure.
  • Strong background in general backend development.
  • Experience in large-scale engineering environments, ideally with internal tools like Buck, Sandcastle, or similar.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • C# and C++ development experience (especially for debugging and runtime stability).
  • Crash-handling and performance profiling in complex systems.
  • Exposure to VR/AR platforms or social applications.
  • Familiarity with Android, Bazel, SQL, and internal telemetry systems.

Team & Culture:

  • Be part of a 50–60 person engineering org in London working across different verticals within immersive XR.
  • Strong emphasis on collaboration, debugging, system diagnostics, and shipping scalable infrastructure.
  • Fast-paced, product-oriented culture with support from highly experienced peers.
